After installation, remember to run the SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard or the following command:

PSConfig.exe -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -wait -cmd applicationcontent -install -cmd installfeatures -cmd secureresources -cmd services -install

Important notes

Always install both packages in this order:

  1. language independent components (core CU)
  2. language-dependent components (language CU)

For language-dependent packages, the language you select does not matter because each package contains updates for all languages.

If you install a new language pack on a SharePoint Server Subscription Edition farm, you must reinstall the language-dependent update afterwards.

Note for this CU:

KB 5002225 requires an existing Microsoft SharePoint Server Subscription Edition installation. A restart may be necessary after applying the update.

Included fixes and improvements

The following overview summarizes the fixes and improvements in this CU based on the official Microsoft KB articles.

SharePoint Server Subscription Edition

KB 5002224 addresses remote code execution in SharePoint Server and information disclosure in Microsoft Office. The associated advisories are CVE-2022-30157, CVE-2022-30158, CVE-2022-30159, CVE-2022-30171, CVE-2022-30172.

The main update, KB 5002224, contains these SharePoint Server fixes:

  • Fixes an issue where lazy loading causes web parts to render incorrectly on modern pages.

  • Fixes an issue where renaming a document library breaks the information details pane in the document web part.

  • Fixes an issue affecting identity providers (IdPs) that do not accept a wildcard in their redirect URI configuration. To support these providers, add the useStateToRedirect property with this command:

    Set-SPTrustedIdentityTokenIssuer -Identity <name> -UseStateToRedirect:$True -IsOpenIDConnect

  • Fixes an issue where upgrading a content database from SharePoint Server 2013 or 2016 to SharePoint Server 2019 corrupts extremely long links within documents.

  • Fixes an issue where Internet Explorer cannot open a site page.

  • Fixes an issue where CSOM does not return the Attachments field value for list items.

The following accessibility fix requires both KB 5002224 and language update KB 5002225:

  • Fixes an issue where opening the hamburger menu does not move focus into its popup pane and the Esc key cannot close it.
