After installation, remember to run the SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard or the following command:

PSConfig.exe -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -wait -cmd applicationcontent -install -cmd installfeatures -cmd secureresources -cmd services -install

Important notes

Always install both packages in this order:

  1. language independent components (core CU for this release)
  2. language-dependent components (latest available language CU: KB 5002110, January 2022 CU)

For language-dependent packages, the language you select does not matter because each package contains updates for all languages.

If you install a new language pack on a SharePoint Server Subscription Edition farm, you must reinstall the language-dependent update afterwards.

Note for this CU:

KB 5002165 requires an existing installation of Microsoft SharePoint Server Subscription Edition. A computer restart may be required after installation.

Included fixes and improvements

The following overview summarizes the fixes and improvements in this CU based on the official Microsoft KB articles.

SharePoint Server Subscription Edition

The main update, KB 5002165, contains the following SharePoint Server fixes:

  • Fixes an issue where files in the modern Shared with Me view link to the publishing farm’s My Site rather than the site that shared them in a cross-farm publishing and consuming scenario.

  • Fixes an issue where Quick Links item properties on a target site still reference document libraries on the source site.

  • Fixes an issue where a legacy Windows account’s logon name fails to synchronize with Active Directory (AD). Synchronization also works after a disabled user’s logon name is changed and the user is enabled again.

  • Fixes an issue where OpenID Connect (OIDC) signature verification fails for a token whose header and payload contain a special character, such as a space.

  • Fixes an issue where the modern list page cannot create an item when its lookup columns reference very large lists and reach the MaxJSONLength limit.

  • Fixes an issue where the AllowIframeAppAuthorizePageDomains setting does not take effect in certain edge cases. The configuration and the workaround for an existing-list error are described in KB5005546.

Fixes for other components (requirements are stated with each fix):

  • Project Server, KB 5002165: Fixes an issue where querying lookup tables through the SharePoint client object model (CSOM) produces DatabaseUndefinedError and System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): There is already an object named 'pk_lt_uids' in the database errors.
